Join us on Saturday, May 30th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Rosmarin and Saunders Family Forest in Readfield.
This 342-acre Kennebec Land Trust property is an extensive conservation area with mixed woodlands, two perennial streams, and wetlands with four vernal pools.
Northern areas include a large open wetland that drains east into Maranacook Lake, while Gardner Brook drains the southern half, towards Berry Pond. Historically the property was farmed and pastured, though more recently it has been managed as a woodlot.
Ticks, black flies and mosquitos should be expected, so do all your standard preparations. Bring your lunch and drinks/water. There are apparently no restrooms on the property. Parking may be tight, so carpooling is encouraged.
Dana Michaud (djmichaud1@gmail.com, or by phone at 872-7683) is coordinating this trip. DO let Dana know if you're planning to attend.
