Now in its fifth year, the Monarch Festival is Habitat For All's culminating educational annual event. Spanning two days, the Monarch Festival is a free, family-friendly event that promotes habitat and biodiversity conservation by empowering us to reimagine our backyards as sanctuaries for pollinators. It teaches us that even small acts can collectively make a big difference.

As many of you know, I have been raising large ‘arthropods’ for over 40 years and using them in free, educational events and presentations. One of my favorites in Maine is in Bethel and will occur on Sunday, August 24th this year. It is the Monarch Festival, put on by the Mahoosuc Land Trust.
I have participated for several years and thoroughly enjoy the event. I bring a large amount of stuff for this event and offer live ‘arthropods’ as well as digital scopes and ‘windowsill-dead bugs’ and amber fossil ‘bugs’ to examine. It has a lot to offer kids as well as adults, as can be seen from their extensive schedule of events. In addition, they have a wonderful ‘Pollinator Garden’ which I love to explore. If this year is like previous ones, it generally rains a bit during the day but they provide a number of tents.
